Most juicers are designed to handle a wide range of ingredients, but hard foods like ginger are really difficult to juice successfully. So you need to pay attention to the details of each juicer and make sure your selection is up to the challenge.
But in my opinion, what is the best juicer for ginger? I’ve shortlisted four juicers for the review process and you can find everything you need to choose the best juicer for you in this article.
Best Juicer For Ginger
Types of juicers
I’m going to keep things as simple as possible.
There are basically two types of juicers on the market today: centrifugal juicers and juicers.
Centrifugal juicers
Centrifugal juicers operate at very high speeds to complete the extraction as quickly as possible.
It’s very convenient (and they’re usually cheaper appliances, too) and they produce a lot of heat as they process the ingredients.
They also add a lot of oxygen to the final drink.
These things are less than ideal, especially when you’re making ginger juice.
If you are trying to maximize the nutritional value of the ginger, the heat and oxygen will partially destroy the ginger.
That’s not ideal if you’re trying to get serious about it.
That’s why I recommend you buy a masticating juicer* instead.
Masticating Juicer
Anyone who is serious about juicing knows that masticating juicers are a much better idea than the others.
These juicers operate at a much slower speed and very slowly grind your fruits and vegetables into juice.
It’s more of a squeeze than a fast blitz, so you get more juice out of your food products.
Masticating juicers work slowly, producing less heat and oxygen. This helps preserve the nutritional value of your food.
The flip side?
Not only are they much slower, but they also require a little more skill on your part.
But when it comes to ginger juice, it’s worth the trouble. It’s a bit of a non-starter to opt for a juicer when working with this stuff.

How To Choose The Best Juicer For Ginger | Ultimate Guide 2022
Easy to assemble
The time it takes to clean a juicer depends on how easy it is to disassemble and assemble. An easy-to-clean juicer is a great addition to your kitchen.
Blending power
Ginger is a tough fruit, so you'll want to buy the best juicer with decent power. The other thing is the pulp. If the juicer produces a wet pulp, it's not the best juicer, which means it doesn't extract all the juice efficiently.
Note that high-end juicers produce dry pulp and low-end machines seem to be less efficient. Be careful to select the best juicer and don't waste your money.
Also Read: Best Meat Slicers for Home Use
Durability and warranty
I used to buy a cheap juicer and after a few months, it broke. You need to focus on the limited warranty of your best juicer, which will protect you from defects.
Every manufacturer offers a different warranty for your best juicer. Always, the longer the warranty, the better. Note that if you use your juicer incorrectly, there is no warranty.
Noise level
If you choose one of the best juicers, it can be noisy. However, some high-end machines have a built-in gearing system, which reduces noise.
Most slow juicers (almost the best masticating juicers) are quite quiet. This may seem like a deal breaker feature, but no one wants their juicer to wake them up, right? You can use it with your juicer.
External pulp recovery systems
Centrifuging ginger and other fruits and vegetables produces a fibrous pulp as waste. Most masticating juicers use an external cup to collect the pulp, while many centrifugal juicers collect the pulp inside the machine. Internal cups are difficult to clean, so models with external pulp collectors are recommended.

Ease of cleaning
Juicers have many components and can be a pain to clean because they need to be cleaned after each juicing session. Most juicers have a dust collector that can be washed in the dishwasher.
Variable speed
Masticating juicers are also called slow centrifuges because they have only one slow centrifuging speed.
Centrifugal juicers are faster, and some models offer different speeds so that hard ingredients like ginger and soft fruits can be extracted more slowly at higher speeds.
Reverse function
Masticating juicers tend to jam, especially on tough produce like kale and ginger. Therefore, a common feature of masticating juicers is the reverse function, which releases stuck produce by reversing the direction of the auger.
Cost of juicers for ginger
Centrifugal juicers typically cost between $50 and $100 USD. Masticating juicers cost between 100 and 300 USD.
Motor power
Ginger is more difficult to juice than vegetables and fruits. The best juicers work well on ginger if they are powerful enough to work on hard roots like carrots.
You should also make sure that the best juicer is a lean machine. Wet pulp means that the best ginger juicer is not powerful enough.
Aim for the best masticating or triturating juicer to get the most out of your ginger.

FAQs
What is the best juicer for ginger shots?
The best masticating juicer can extract unpeeled ginger more efficiently than the best centrifugal juicer. The downside of the best masticating juicer is that it is slightly more expensive than entry-level juicers.
The best centrifugal juicers are more affordable, easy to use, produce juice very quickly, and are perfect for those who are new to juicing.
Can you put ginger in a juicer?
Yes, you can juice ginger in a juicer. Ginger can be a little tough to juice because it is a root vegetable, but a good juicer should be able to handle it.
Here are some tips to help you juice ginger effectively:
- Peel the ginger before juicing it. The skin can be tough and fibrous, and it may not juice well.
- Cut the ginger into small pieces. This will help the juicer to process it more easily.
- Alternate ginger with other fruits or vegetables. If you juice only ginger, it may be too strong or spicy for some people. Mixing it with other ingredients can help balance the flavor.
- Clean your juicer thoroughly after juicing ginger. Ginger has a strong flavor that can linger in the juicer, so it's important to wash it well to avoid any lingering taste or smell.
By following these tips, you can juice ginger in a juicer and enjoy its many health benefits.
Do I have to peel the ginger before juicing?
You don't have to peel the ginger before juicing it in the best ginger juicer, because it separates the skin. However, you should still clean it thoroughly and examine it for mold.
But wait a minute. Pesticides can stick to the peel, so one solution is to scrape it off with a spoon. Otherwise, peeling ginger is not an easy process with the best ginger extractor.
What do you do with the ginger pulp after centrifugation?
The pulp left by the best ginger juicer does not need to be thrown away. The pulp from the best ginger juicer can be placed in a dish of ice and used as ginger tea.
If the best ginger juicer pulp is made up of vegetables such as celery, carrots, onions, and/or garlic, you can easily turn it into soup.
How much power do I need?
Hard ingredients put more strain on the juicer's motor than soft ingredients. Ginger, in particular, is much harder to juice.
Therefore, I would say that in general, it is much better in this regard. If you buy a masticating juicer, however, don't confuse power with speed.
It should always run at a slower speed for optimal extraction, but harder ingredients put up more resistance, forcing the motor to work harder.
This is one of the areas where it's worth buying from a big brand like Omega, which specializes in juices and knows how much pressure is needed to get these products down.
Are masticating juicers and centrifugal juicers suitable for extracting ginger?
If you can afford the extra cost, a masticating juicer is the best method for extracting ginger. It produces less heat and oxygen, so more of the nutrients in the ginger juice is retained. However, both types of juicers can extract hard roots.
Do ginger roots need to be peeled before juicing?
High-quality juicers remove the skin, so it is not necessary. However, it is important to wash the roots thoroughly before juicing to remove dirt, mold, and particles. If you are not buying organically grown ginger, it is best to peel the roots to reduce exposure to pesticides and other agricultural chemicals.
Why is ginger harder to extract than vegetables and fruits?
Ginger is a tough root full of fiber. This makes it difficult to chop. Here, a powerful motor is essential. Ginger fights against the motor mechanism, and the motor must be able to grow back to do its job. But there are some good things.
Ginger tastes much better in shots than in pure drinks. Buy a juicer with a good motor and you should be able to produce this product in small quantities without any problems.
Can I make ginger without a juicer?
There are some soft fruits and vegetables that you can juice by hand, but ginger is definitely not one of them. The problem is that the moisture - your juice - is locked in those dense fibers. If you work with it by hand, you'll only get a pitiful amount of juice. You need special equipment to do this job properly.
Do I have to peel the ginger before juicing it?
Not necessarily, as there is no need to peel the ginger before juicing. I tend to prepare my ingredients this way, but it's not really necessary. The ginger should be scrubbed well to remove any dirt, then placed in the juicer. The pulp is separated during the juicing process, so keep the skin away from the ginger juice.
What is the shelf life of ginger juice?
Ginger Juice can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. After that, the quality obviously deteriorates. In fact, I try to drink the juice I make within 24 hours. In fact, I feel that the sooner I drink it, the better it is in the end.
Can ginger juice be frozen?
After making ginger juice, there is no problem storing it in the freezer for up to six months. It is meant to be drunk in small amounts, so using an ice tray is very convenient. Take it out a day or two before using it, place it in a suitable container, and thaw it in the refrigerator.
Can You Put Whole Ginger In A Juicer?
Yes, you can put whole ginger in a juicer, but it may be more difficult for the juicer to process. Ginger can be a tough and fibrous root vegetable, so it's best to cut it into smaller pieces before putting it in the juicer.
If you choose to juice whole ginger, make sure that your juicer is powerful enough to handle it. Some juicers may struggle with harder produce like ginger, and this can damage the motor or cause the juicer to clog.
It's also important to note that the skin of ginger can be tough and fibrous, and it may not juice well. If you do decide to juice whole ginger, make sure to thoroughly wash and scrub the ginger to remove any dirt or debris. You can also peel the ginger to make it easier to juice.
In general, it's best to cut ginger into smaller pieces before juicing it to ensure that it is processed effectively and safely by your juicer.
Is It Good To Drink Ginger Juice every day?
Drinking ginger juice every day can be beneficial for your health, but it's important to do so in moderation and consult with a healthcare professional if you have any underlying health conditions.
Ginger contains compounds called gingerols and shogaols, which have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These compounds may help to reduce inflammation in the body, support the immune system, and improve digestion.
Some potential benefits of drinking ginger juice regularly may include:
- Reducing inflammation and pain
- Boosting the immune system
- Improving digestion and reducing nausea
- Lowering blood sugar levels
- Improving heart health
However, it's important to note that ginger can also have some side effects, such as heartburn, stomach upset, and allergic reactions. It can also interact with certain medications, so it's important to talk to your doctor before adding ginger juice to your daily routine.
In general, it's best to drink ginger juice in moderation and in combination with a balanced and healthy diet. Adding too much ginger to your diet can cause negative side effects, so it's important to listen to your body and adjust your intake as needed.
What Is The Healthiest Way To Consume Ginger?
There are several healthy ways to consume ginger, depending on your personal preferences and needs. Here are a few options:
- Fresh ginger: Fresh ginger is a versatile ingredient that can be added to many dishes, such as stir-fries, soups, and marinades. You can also make ginger tea by boiling sliced ginger in water for a few minutes and adding lemon and honey for flavor.
- Ginger juice: Fresh ginger can also be juiced in a juicer or blender and consumed as a shot or mixed with other fruits and vegetables for a healthy juice.
- Ginger supplements: Ginger supplements, such as capsules or tablets, can provide a concentrated dose of ginger's active compounds. However, it's important to talk to your doctor before taking any supplements, as they may interact with certain medications.
- Ginger candies: Some people enjoy consuming ginger in the form of candies or chews. However, these products may contain added sugars and other ingredients, so it's important to read the label carefully and consume them in moderation.

Do I Need To Peel Ginger For Juicer?
It is not necessary to peel ginger with a juicer, but it can help improve the texture and taste of the juice. Ginger skin can be tough and fibrous, and leaving it on can result in a stringy or pulpy juice.
If you choose to juice ginger with the skin on, make sure to thoroughly wash and scrub the ginger to remove any dirt or debris. It's also a good idea to cut the ginger into smaller pieces to make it easier for the juicer to process.
Peeling ginger before juicing can make the juice smoother and less fibrous. You can use a vegetable peeler or a sharp knife to remove the skin. Make sure to remove only the skin and not too much of the flesh to avoid wasting ginger.
In general, whether you choose to peel ginger for juicing is a matter of personal preference. Some people prefer the taste and texture of juice made with unpeeled ginger, while others prefer the smoother texture of juice made with peeled ginger.
How Long To Soak Ginger Before Juicing?
There is no specific time required to soak ginger before juicing, but some people prefer to soak it for a short period to help soften it and make it easier to juice. Soaking ginger can also help remove any dirt or debris that may be on the surface.
If you choose to soak ginger before juicing, you can do so for 10-15 minutes in cold water. After soaking, rinse the ginger thoroughly to remove any remaining debris or dirt.
Keep in mind that soaking ginger may also dilute its flavor and affect the overall taste of the juice. If you prefer a stronger ginger flavor, you may want to skip the soaking step and juice the ginger immediately.
Ultimately, whether or not you choose to soak ginger before juicing is a matter of personal preference. Experiment with different methods to find the one that works best for you.
How Long Does Juiced Ginger Stay Fresh?
Fresh ginger juice is best consumed immediately after juicing to maximize its nutritional benefits and flavor. However, if you need to store ginger juice for later use, here are some guidelines to follow:
- Refrigeration: Store ginger juice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Make sure to shake the container before consuming to mix any settled solids.
- Freezing: You can also freeze ginger juice in an ice cube tray or freezer-safe container for longer storage. Frozen ginger juice can last up to 6 months in the freezer.
Keep in mind that over time, ginger juice may lose some of its flavor and nutritional benefits, so it's best to consume it as soon as possible for maximum freshness. If the juice appears or smells off or has an unusual texture, it's best to discard it and make a fresh batch.
Final Verdict
Now it's time to choose the best juicer for ginger and enjoy the benefits of ginger juice.
