How To Program Black And Decker Coffee Maker
I don’t know how or when I started to like coffee. Back then, I was amazed every time I found someone who liked it. How do they find it so tasty? It’s so dark and bitter. I never thought I would want the same thing in my future.
I guess my laid-back nature as a child didn’t encourage me to taste this strange liquid. As an adult, however, I craved coffee. Whether I was studying all night or working late, coffee helped me keep up. I eventually met a friend at a coffee shop and started to enjoy spending time with my friends drinking coffee, which I didn’t like.
And little by little, I became fascinated with its aroma and taste. I need that coffee every morning. Otherwise, I feel groggy and I can’t concentrate on my work. Besides, coffee is a good place to spend time with friends and family. So, coffee has become an essential part of my daily routine. Not only do I enjoy it, but I also feel the need to do it.
Due to the pandemic that the world is experiencing today, everyone has to limit their outings. So I decided to purchase a Black and Decker coffee maker. I could satisfy my need for coffee without putting my health at risk.
However, programming can be a little more complicated than just going out and buying coffee. It took a lot of trial and error before I was able to create the taste I was looking for. I encourage everyone to give it a try.

Instructions for use
Maintenance of your coffee maker
Each time you use the coffee maker, in addition to disposing of the grounds and filter, the filter basket and carafe should be cleaned by hand or in the dishwasher.
To prevent scale build-up due to hard water, the coffee maker should be treated with vinegar once a month. Fill about half the water bottle with white vinegar and the rest with water. Place a clean filter in the filter basket; press the ON/OFF button to start the extraction cycle.
Fill the carafe halfway and press the ON/OFF button again to turn off the coffee machine. Let the coffee maker and carafe soak for 15 minutes, then turn the coffee maker back on to run a full cycle. Discard the vinegar solution and filter, fill the bottle with fresh water and run the coffee brewing cycle to remove the vinegar. If the vinegar smell is not completely gone, repeat the extraction cycle.

Cleaning with vinegar
Coffee makers should be cleaned with vinegar once a month to prevent scale build-up. Fill the water bottle with white vinegar to the sixth fill and fill with water to the tenth fill. Add the filter paper as before. Extract until the level reaches 5, turn off and let stand for 15 minutes. Repeat the extraction with the remaining liquid. Turn off and discard the filter paper.
Replace the carafe and fill the tank with cold water to the 11 mark. Begin extraction. Repeat this procedure until the vinegar smell is gone. Then wash the carafe and the filter basket.
Setting the Time
Many Black & Decker coffee makers have a delay brewing feature that turns the coffee maker on at a preset time. Even if you don’t use this feature, it’s a good idea to set the clock to the correct time of day, just in case.
To set the clock, plug in the unit. Display flashes “12:00” Press the HR button to set the time. The display changes from 1 to 12, then “PM” appears in the upper right corner of the display and the cycle repeats. When the correct time is reached, release the button; press the MIN button to select the minutes and release the button at the current time.

Making coffee
To make coffee, you must first fill the water tank. Fill the tank with cold water up to the line indicating the number of cups you wish to prepare. Do not fill the water tank beyond the line indicating the maximum capacity of the tank or you will make a big mess.
Next, use the filter. Place the filter in the filter basket at the top of the machine. At this point, use the correct filter for your machine. If you don’t know which one to use, you can refer to your instruction manual. Some Black & Decker models, especially those that grind coffee, do not require a filter.
If the filter is in place, you will need to add the coffee of your choice. Pour the coffee into the filter. The company recommends using one heaping tablespoon per 6 oz. cup, but depending on the strength of the product, you can go as high as two tablespoons. The coffee should be evenly distributed in the bottom of the filter and should not be saturated.
Place the carafe on the Pour-Thru lid and press the ON/OFF button to start the extraction process. With the Sneak-A-Cup function, you can remove the carafe at any time and pour the coffee into a cup. In this case, the extraction process is interrupted for 20 seconds. To turn off the machine completely, press the ON/OFF button again.

Grinding and brewing
If your coffee machine has a grind function, add the beans in the same proportion as the ground coffee (1 to 2 tablespoons per cup). Select the grind according to the number of cups to be prepared. After adding water, press the ON/OFF button once. The beans are ground and the coffee is brewed immediately. If you want to brew pre-ground coffee, be sure to set it to OFF.
Strength adjustment
By pressing the “STRONG” button, you instruct the machine to extract a more intense cup using less water. This function can be used in combination with a timer, as with manual extraction. In the lower left corner of the screen you will see a symbol indicating the strength; you can scroll through the strength settings by pressing the “STRONG” button.
Keeping the carafe plate warm
You can choose how long to keep the carafe plate warm after a brew. Press the KEEP WARM button until the desired time is displayed; you can choose between 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes or OFF. When the timer expires, the machine turns off.

Tips for a good cup of coffee
To get the most out of your coffee maker, it helps to know a few tips.
- When brewing, keep these things in mind.
- To keep the coffee at brewing temperature, fill the carafe with tap water and empty the carafe before brewing.
- Do not put your daily coffee in the refrigerator. Exposure to moisture will deteriorate the coffee.
- Do not reuse the coffee beans. After brewing, all the juicy flavor of the coffee will be extracted and only the bitter taste will remain.
- Use spring water or filtered water for brewing. Distilled water does not contain the minerals needed to bind with the coffee components.
- Coffee should be drunk as soon as it is brewed. If coffee is left to sit too long, it will heat up and taste worse.
